Modulation has been available for many years, but it was not cost-effective for the Residential or Commercial market.  Varidigm recognized the need to develop a solution that provided modulation at the right price.  Varidigm’s development of a patented variable speed control for PSC motors was the breakthrough needed to make modulation affordable, (and add features that make a Varidigm controlled system easy for the Installer).

Modulating gas-fired equipment improves the ability of systems to match output to demand.  The benefits include improved temperature control, a corresponding reduction in temperature overshoot that wastes energy, and fewer ON-OFF cycles that:

• Reduces damaging condensation formed at the beginning of each burn cycle, extending the life of the heat exchanger
• Reduces temperature swings that contribute to thermal stress, extending the life of the heat exchanger
• Reduces high in-rush current cycles that accelerate  component wear, extending service life
